Nestled between Ocean City and Sea Isle City is the hamlet of Strathmere, Upper Township's seashore community that boasts a pristine beach, homes, and restaurants. Other communities within include Marmora, Petersburg, Tuckahoe, Seaville, Greenfield, Beesley's Point, Palermo and Steelmantown.
Upper Township is made up of 10 small villages or towns: Beesleys Point, Marmora, Palermo, Seaville, Tuckahoe, Greenfield, Marshallville, Steelmantown, Petersburg and Strathmere.
At the last census of 1990, the total population of the Township was 10.681 with an influx of younger married couples with children the population was estimated at 11,220 in 1996. Summer time population figures swell nearly 20,000 people.
